Jharkhand News : Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren addressed the 21st Tribal Mahasabha-2026 organized by the All Tribal Student Association of Assam in Tinsukia on Sunday. He expressed that this was an important opportunity to meet the tribal communities who have been residing here for over 150 years. CM Soren highlighted his visit as a way to understand the hardships, oppression, and struggles faced by tribal communities living in Assam.
He recalled the significant role of Jharkhand’s tribal community in India’s freedom struggle, mentioning iconic leaders like Birsa Munda, Sidho Kanho, and Tilka Manjhi, who sacrificed their lives to protect land, water, and forests. The CM emphasized that tribal communities continue to face social and economic marginalization, and therefore require attention and support.
CM Soren paid tribute to prominent tribal leader late Pradeep Nag and celebrated singer late Jubin Garg. He also pointed out that although Jharkhand became a separate state in 2000, tribal communities did not benefit as expected initially. His government has worked to bring welfare schemes directly to villages, blocks, and tribal hamlets.
He assured that the tribal society of Jharkhand will always stand with the tribal communities living in Assam. The CM stressed that the unity of tribal communities is crucial for preserving their rights and identity. He also highlighted women empowerment in the state through the Mukhyamantri Maaniya Samman Yojana and youth development via education loans of up to ₹15 lakh without any collateral.
The event was attended by Minister Chamra Linda, MP Vijay Hansda, MLA Mo. Tajuddin alias MT Raja, ASSAA Central Committee President Rejan Horo, Vice President David Tirkey, and many other dignitaries, along with a large gathering of tribal men, women, and youth from across Assam.
