Bihar News : The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has issued the notification for the BPSC TRE 4 teacher recruitment examination. However, protests by candidates have continued even after the notification was released.
Candidates are opposing changes in the examination pattern and are demanding that the examination be conducted in a single phase. They have also demanded that the negative marking system be removed.
Compared with the previous phases of the Teacher Recruitment Examination, several important changes have been introduced in TRE 4. These include minimum qualifying marks in the 30-mark language paper, a new tie-breaker rule for candidates securing equal marks, changes in the level of questions and stricter identity verification from the application stage to appointment and joining.
Language Paper: Passing Marks Now Mandatory
The removal of passing marks for the 30-mark language paper in TRE 2 had triggered controversy. Candidates had opposed the decision, expressing concerns that it could affect the merit list.
In TRE 4, candidates will have to secure the minimum qualifying marks in the 30-mark Hindi, English and Urdu language paper. However, these 30 marks will not be included while preparing the final merit list.
The merit list will be based on marks obtained in the 120-mark General Knowledge and main subject papers. This means candidates must qualify in the language paper, but their final merit will be determined by their performance in the main subject and General Knowledge.
New Tie-Breaker Rule in TRE 4
In the previous phases of the Teacher Recruitment Examination, if two candidates secured equal marks, preference was given to the older candidate. If the tie continued, the candidate’s name and its first letter were considered.
The tie-breaker system has now been changed in TRE 4. In case of equal marks, the marks obtained in the main subject will be considered first.
If the candidates also have equal marks in the main subject, preference will be given to the marks secured in the 30-mark language paper. If the tie still remains, the earlier rules based on age and the first letter of the candidate’s name will apply.
Changes in the Level of Questions
Changes have also been made regarding the level of questions in TRE 4. In previous recruitment phases, complaints were raised about questions being outside the prescribed syllabus or comparatively difficult in some subjects.
This time, questions will be based on the level of minimum educational qualification required for the respective post.
For primary and middle school teachers, the level of questions will correspond to Classes 10 to 12. For teachers of Classes 9 to 12, questions will be at the graduate and postgraduate levels.
The examination will give priority to basic concepts from NCERT and SCERT books and the candidate’s understanding of the subject.
Stricter Identity Verification from Application to Joining
Following cases related to fake documents and incorrect information in previous teacher recruitment examinations, the verification process has been made stricter in TRE 4.
Candidates will be required to capture a live and clear photograph through a computer webcam during the application process. Reservation, Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) and EWS certificates must also have been issued before the last date of application.
Candidates will undergo verification through Aadhaar-based fingerprint and facial scanning at the examination centre. The verification process will continue through the appointment and joining stages.
The new system aims to reduce the possibility of impersonation in examinations and fraud involving documents.
