Ranchi: The case surrounding the death of tribal leader Nisha Bhagat is gaining significant momentum. Her father, Handu Bhagat, has approached the Pithoria Police Station to seek justice. In a written application submitted to the Station House Officer (SHO), he has demanded the registration of an FIR and legal action against several individuals, including Ajay Tirkey and Jyotsna Kerketta. The application was received by Sub-Inspector Sunil Kumar Das of the Pithoria Police Station.
In his application, Handu Bhagat has leveled several serious allegations, describing his daughter’s death as a murder carried out as part of a pre-planned conspiracy. He alleges that Nisha Bhagat had long been subjected to mental and social harassment. He claims that her character was questioned via social media, and attempts were made to damage her social standing by leveling false accusations against her.
Demand for an investigation into the roles of Ajay Tirkey and Jyotsna Kerketta
In his application, the father has requested an investigation into the roles of Ajay Tirkey and Jyotsna Kerketta, as well as certain individuals involved in the land business and others. He alleges that Nisha Bhagat was harassed even while moving about outside her home, and that this persistent harassment left her deeply distressed.
Handu Bhagat has urged the police to treat the videos and statements released by Nisha Bhagat on social media prior to her death as a crucial basis for the investigation. He has demanded an impartial probe into the roles of all those named in these videos and has called for strict legal action against anyone found guilty. Nisha Bhagat died after a Facebook Live session
Notably, on November 6, the body of Nisha Bhagat was found hanging in a rented house within the jurisdiction of the Pithoria police station. According to the police, her death was a case of suicide. Prior to this, Nisha Bhagat had appeared on a Facebook Live session, during which she tearfully shared the troubles she was facing.
In the live video, she alleged that she had been harassed by certain individuals involved in the land business. Furthermore, she raised questions regarding the conduct of the police and the administration. The emergence of this video has made the situation even more serious.
Youth take to the streets demanding a CBI investigation
Ever since Nisha Bhagat’s death, there have been persistent demands for an impartial inquiry, specifically by the CBI. In this context, a group of youths staged a protest by blocking the road near the Nagri checkpost, demanding a CBI investigation into the matter.
At present, the allegations made in the complaint filed by her father are yet to be independently investigated. All eyes are now on the police’s subsequent actions and the findings of the investigation.
