After Ansh–Anshika Rescue, Ranchi Police Claim Kidnap Racket Exposed

Kidnap

Jharkhand News : Following the safe recovery of siblings Ansh and Anshika, who were allegedly abducted from the Jagannathpur area on January 2, Ranchi Police have claimed to have uncovered a larger child-abduction network operating across states.

According to police, the children were recovered from Ramgarh district, after which investigators intensified questioning and traced links to an organised group involved in targeting minors. The SSP Rakesh Ranjan said a special team is probing the wider network and identifying people suspected to be part of the operation.

Police allege multi-layered operation

Police claim the gang operated in multiple layers—starting with surveillance of vulnerable families, then moving children across locations, and finally handing them over to other handlers. Authorities said they are examining allegations related to forced begging and petty theft, and are also investigating other grave claims, which they said are yet to be fully verified.

“Balloon sellers” used for scouting, police say

Investigators further alleged that members of the group posed as balloon sellers or worked in slum areas as a cover to scout children, especially from economically weaker families. Police said this method was allegedly used in the Ansh–Anshika case as well.

More recoveries, wider probe underway

Police also stated that during follow-up operations, additional children were reportedly traced from areas including Kujju, Silli, and Latehar. Officials said more arrests are likely as the investigation expands, and teams may travel to West Bengal for further inquiry.

Police added that the case remains under investigation and all claims will be established through evidence, statements, and legal procedures.
