Jharkhand News : Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) celebrated the 77th Republic Day with pride, enthusiasm and dignity at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, CCL Gandhinagar. On the occasion, CCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Nilendu Kumar Singh hoisted the National Flag and extended Republic Day greetings to all present.
CMD Shri Singh inspected the parade presented by CCL security personnel, CISF jawans, Army Band and students of DAV Gandhinagar School. The ceremony was attended by Director (Human Resources) Harsh Nath Mishra, Director (Technical/Operations) Chandra Shekhar Tiwari, Director (Planning & Projects) Anup Hanjura, Chief Vigilance Officer Pankaj Kumar, senior officials, workers’ representatives, CCL employees and their family members in large numbers. Special guests included President of Arpita Mahila Mandal, Preeti Singh, along with other members of the club. The program began with the release of colorful balloons symbolizing peace and progress.
Addressing the gathering, CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh paid tribute to the architects of the Indian Constitution and said that CCL is a strong pillar of India’s energy security. He emphasized that coal is not just a fuel but the backbone of the country’s industrial development. During FY 2025-26, CCL has shown continuous improvement in coal production and dispatch, driven by the dedication and commitment of its employees and workforce.
The CMD highlighted significant progress in the development of new mines and revival of closed mines. Coal production has commenced from the Kotre-Basantpur-Pachmo Open Cast Project (5 MTPA capacity) since November 2025, while the 15 MTPA Chandragupta Open Cast Project has received all statutory clearances and is ready to begin production. Work on incline driveways has started at Piparwar Phase-1 Underground Project, and coal production has also begun this month at Rajhara Open Cast Project.
Emphasizing environmental protection and sustainable development, Shri Singh said that CCL is moving beyond traditional mining towards sustainable mining practices. So far, around 11 million saplings have been planted over 5,720 hectares of land. For air pollution control, CCL has deployed fog cannons, mobile water tankers and installed 26 km of wind barriers. Under its Net-Zero commitment, CCL plans to install a total of 425 MW solar power capacity, of which 26.7 MW is currently operational. The 20 MW solar plant at Piparwar is generating nearly 2.8 million units of electricity per month, resulting in savings of approximately ₹1.10 crore every month.
He further stated that CCL continues to invest in inclusive social development through its CSR initiatives. During FY 2025-26, more than ₹50 crore has been spent on CSR activities till December. Under the “Nanha Sa Dil” project, health screening of over 28,000 children has been completed, and heart surgeries have been successfully conducted for 75 children. CCL’s initiatives in education, livelihood and sports are bringing positive changes to thousands of lives.
On the occasion, Director (HR) Shri Harsh Nath Mishra hoisted the National Flag at CCL Headquarters Darbhanga House and Gandhinagar Central Hospital. In his address, he said that Republic Day is not merely a celebration, but an opportunity to reaffirm commitment to constitutional values and democracy.
Students from DAV Gandhinagar, Gyanodaya School and Kendriya Vidyalaya presented captivating cultural performances. Participants who delivered outstanding performances in the parade and a CCL security guard for exemplary service were felicitated by the CMD and Directors.
