Jharkhand News : A Mega Financial Inclusion Camp was organized today at the Panchayat Bhawan, Tanga, Ranchi, under the joint initiative of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Bank of India (BOI), on the occasion of the Ranchi visit of BOI Executive Director P.R. Rajagopala. The event was graced by the presence of RBI Regional Director Prem Ranjan Prasad Singh, BOI Field General Manager Guru Prasad Gond, and BOI Ranchi Zonal Manager Sanjeev Kumar Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Prem Ranjan Prasad Singh stated that the camp aimed to connect citizens with the formal financial system and ensure access to banking services and financial benefits for all. He highlighted the objectives of such camps—including KYC updates, activation of dormant accounts, promotion of social security schemes like insurance and pensions, and raising financial awareness at the grassroots level.
He further shared that over 1.2 million accounts have been KYC-updated since October 2024 through the RBI Ranchi office’s efforts, with Jharkhand showing remarkable performance. “Financial inclusion means providing access to financial services for all, and active bank accounts are the gateway to these services,” he emphasized.
BOI Executive Director P.R. Rajagopala stressed the significance of financial inclusion in driving economic progress. “Inclusive growth is possible only when banking facilities are easily accessible to all sections of society,” he said. He spoke about BOI’s commitment to extending digital banking, insurance, pension schemes, and microcredit services to both urban and rural areas.
He encouraged the community, self-help groups, entrepreneurs, and farmers to engage with the formal banking system. He also mentioned BOI’s recent initiatives in expanding branch networks, digital touchpoints, and document-free account opening.
Closing the event, BOI Field General Manager Guru Prasad Gond urged all bank staff to engage with customers personally and promote financial literacy in underserved areas. “Bank of India is dedicated to empowering citizens financially, especially in rural and backward regions,” he affirmed.
