Jharkhand News : Despite repeated claims of improved healthcare services, a heart-wrenching incident from Jharkhand has once again exposed the harsh reality on the ground. In Chaibasa town of West Singhbhum district, a poor father was forced to carry the body of his four-year-old son in a bag after failing to get an ambulance from the hospital.
According to family members, the incident occurred on Friday when Dimba Chatomba, a resident of Baljodi village in the Noamundi area, rushed his critically ill son to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital, located nearly 70 kilometers away. The child died during treatment around 4 PM.
After the child’s death, the grieving father pleaded with hospital authorities to arrange an ambulance to take the body back home. However, no assistance was provided. With no money to hire a private ambulance and no other option left, the helpless father placed his son’s body in a bag and boarded a bus to return home.
Eyewitnesses said the father was completely shattered and unable to speak during the journey. Fellow passengers were moved to tears after learning about the tragic situation.
Local residents said that the family is extremely poor and did not even have enough money for basic transportation. The incident has triggered outrage and raised serious questions about the availability of emergency services in government hospitals.
When contacted, Chaibasa Sadar Hospital Deputy Superintendent Dr. Shivcharan Hansda said he was not aware of the incident and assured that the matter was being looked into by hospital officials.
The incident has once again highlighted the gaps in the healthcare system and the failure of emergency medical support for the poorest sections of society.
