Jharkhand News : A shocking incident was reported from the Lalpur area of Ranchi on Sunday night, where a 25-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and later run over by a car following a minor dispute. The victim succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Ankit Kumar Singh (25), a resident of Hariganwa village under Majhiaon block in Garhwa district. A zero FIR has been registered at Garhwa police station on the complaint of the victim’s uncle, Satyaprakash Singh, accusing several youths of conspiracy and murder.
🚔 FIR Filed, Case Transferred to Lalpur Police
According to police, the FIR names Ramandeep Singh, Roshan Gupta, Anshul, Vicky Khan, and four to five others as accused. Garhwa station in-charge Sunil Tiwari said the case has been forwarded to Lalpur Police Station for further investigation.
The complainant stated that the accused were identified by Ankit’s friend, Arnav alias Sejal, who was present at the scene.
🍽️ Dispute Outside Restaurant Turned Violent
As per the FIR, Ankit, along with his uncle and friends Arnav and Akash, had gone to a restaurant near Lalpur Chowk on Sunday night. An argument reportedly broke out with another group of youths inside the establishment.
After stepping outside, verbal abuse escalated into a physical confrontation. The accused allegedly assaulted Ankit severely and later ran a car over him. The impact also caused injuries to Satyaprakash Singh and Akash.
🚑 Declared Dead at Hospital
After the attackers fled the scene, the injured Ankit was rushed to Ranchi Sadar Hospital, from where he was referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences. Doctors at RIMS declared him dead. The family later took him to a private hospital, where his death was again confirmed.
🔍 Police Investigation Underway
Police have launched a search operation to arrest the accused. CCTV footage from nearby areas and eyewitness accounts are being examined to establish the sequence of events. Officials said strict action will be taken against those found responsible.
The incident has raised concerns over late-night violence in the city, prompting calls for stronger monitoring and policing in crowded urban areas.
