Jharkhand News : Davos/Ranchi: On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, a Jharkhand government delegation led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a key meeting with the top leadership of Tata Steel. During the meeting, Tata Steel reaffirmed its commitment to invest ₹11,000 crore in Jharkhand under new-age green steel technology. A Letter of Intent (LoI) and a cooperation agreement were signed to take the plan forward.
📌 Investment Break-up (Proposed)
As per the proposed plan, the investment includes:

₹7,000 crore in HIsarna / “Easy & Melt” technology

₹1,500 crore for a Combi Mill project

₹2,600 crore for a Tinplate expansion project
The projects are expected to be aligned with environment-friendly green steel pathways, with the use of advanced technologies linked to the Netherlands and Germany.
CM: Sustainable Industry and Local Jobs a Priority
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the Jharkhand government is prioritising sustainable industrial growth, clean technology, and local employment. He added that the partnership with Tata Steel could significantly strengthen the state’s industrial capacity while positioning Jharkhand as a leading hub for green industrial transition.
Sweden, Hitachi and Tech Mahindra Also in Talks
The delegation also discussed investment opportunities in urban transport and mobility with the Sweden India Business Council, following up on the state’s earlier engagement with Sweden. In addition, Hitachi expressed interest in investment related to power systems, advanced grid infrastructure and modern development. Tech Mahindra was also part of discussions focused on IT and technology investment.
The meeting reportedly included Tata Steel MD & CEO T. V. Narendran and representatives from other partner organisations.
