Ambulance Booking Like Ola-Uber: Jharkhand Launches ‘Jeevandut’ App for Emergency Services

Jharkhand News : Jharkhand has introduced a major digital initiative in its healthcare system with the launch of the ‘Jeevandut’ mobile application, enabling citizens to book emergency ambulances just like Ola or Uber. Through this app, patients can now access Dial 108 ambulance services quickly and efficiently.

The initiative was directed by Ajay Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, to ensure timely medical assistance for patients across the state. Along with the app-based booking, ambulance services will also continue to be available by dialing 108. The instructions were issued during a review meeting of the 108 ambulance service held on Friday.

Private Ambulances to Be Integrated with 108 Services

To strengthen the emergency response system, the Health Department has decided to integrate private ambulances with the 108 service through the Jeevandut app. Registered private ambulance operators will be paid by the government on a per-kilometer basis.

Ambulances willing to operate under the 108 framework will need to undergo a mandatory inspection and departmental certification before being registered. Regular monitoring will be conducted, and any violation of guidelines may lead to the cancellation of the ambulance’s association with the 108 service.

Fresh Tender for 108 Ambulance Operations

The government has also decided to reissue the tender for operating the 108 ambulance service. A team from the National Health Mission (NHM) will be sent to states where 108 services are functioning efficiently. Based on the study, similar best practices will be implemented in Jharkhand.

Additionally, the Mamta Vahan service (used primarily for maternal healthcare) will also be integrated with the Jeevandut app to enhance accessibility.

CGHS Rate Treatment in Private Hospitals Nationwide

Under the State Employee Health Insurance Scheme, beneficiaries will now be able to receive treatment at CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) rates in both in-state and out-of-state private hospitals.

The Additional Chief Secretary has instructed health officials to ensure CGHS-rate treatment across all major hospitals and to complete their empanelment. He also emphasized selecting a new insurance company before the current insurer’s term ends in February, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services for beneficiaries.
