CM Hemant Soren Pledges Commitment to Tribal Language and Culture

Jharkhand News : President Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest, while Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended as distinguished guests at the 22nd Santhali “Parsi Maha” and Ol Chiki Script Centennial Celebration held on Monday at Dishom Jaher, Karandih, Jamshedpur.

In his address, CM Hemant Soren emphasized that the government is committed to preserving and honoring tribal languages and culture. Continuous efforts are being made in collaboration with tribal communities to strengthen their cultural and linguistic identity. He noted that the ceremony was particularly significant as it recognized and honored writers and intellectuals who have contributed to the development of the Santhali language and literature.

The CM highlighted that the Jharkhand government is dedicated to ensuring education in the Santhali language through the Ol Chiki script. Efforts are ongoing to safeguard, preserve, and promote tribal languages, giving voice to tribal communities across the region.

He also praised President Droupadi Murmu for her significant contribution to empowering tribal communities and promoting their culture, traditions, and identity at national platforms.

CM Soren further acknowledged the invaluable contribution of Gurumke Pandit Raghunath Murmu, who, a century ago, created the Ol Chiki script, giving the Santhali language a distinct identity. He said that as long as the Ol Chiki script and the Santhal tribal community thrive, Pandit Raghunath Murmu’s legacy will remain immortal.

The event was attended by Lok Sabha MP Kalipad Soren, All India Santhali Writers Association President Laxman Kisku, Jaher Thaan Committee President CR Manjhi, and other representatives of the Santhali community.
