Jharkhand News : Jharkhand is likely to continue facing cold wave conditions across several districts, with the chill expected to ease after January 16. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a change in weather patterns and wind direction may reduce the intensity of the cold wave in the state from January 16 onwards.
For Wednesday and Thursday, cold wave conditions are expected in more than half of Jharkhand’s districts. The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for 13 districts due to cold wave and fog-related conditions.
Districts under Yellow Alert (Cold Wave/Fog)
The IMD bulletin indicates a Yellow Alert for Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Bokaro and West Singhbhum, where cold wave and fog are likely to impact night and early morning hours.
Temperatures remain below normal
The state continues to witness minimum temperatures below 10°C in most districts, with Gumla reported as among the coldest locations recently. IMD data shows temperatures across Jharkhand staying below normal for both maximum and minimum readings.
McCluskieganj touches 1°C
In McCluskieganj, temperatures reportedly touched around 1°C, intensifying early morning chill and prompting residents to use bonfires for warmth during peak cold hours.
IMD advisory: People are advised to take precautions against exposure to cold, especially during night and early morning, and remain cautious during foggy conditions that may reduce visibility.
