Netaji Subhash Medical College Inaugurated in Adityapur by CM Hemant Soren

Jharkhand News : Friday marked a historic milestone for the health and education sectors in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharsawan district as Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari formally inaugurated Netaji Subhash Medical College in Adityapur. The event was attended by Ghatsila MLA Somesh Soren, Kharsawan MLA Dashrath Gagrai, and Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the day was historic for the Kolhan region. He stated that the first batch of students has already begun classes and the official inauguration marks a major step toward strengthening medical education in the region. He urged students to uphold social responsibility after becoming doctors and serve society with dedication.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Jharkhand government is continuously working to improve healthcare facilities across the state. He added that plans are underway to establish 25 to 30 medical colleges in the coming years. Currently, the state has over 200 nursing colleges, contributing significantly to healthcare manpower.

Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari announced that a comprehensive survey of sickle cell and thalassemia patients will be conducted across Jharkhand. Based on the findings, treatment facilities will be developed within the state so patients no longer need to seek care outside Jharkhand. He also appealed to the media to avoid spreading misleading news regarding the state’s medical system.

College Chancellor M.N. Singh said that the medical college became possible after land was allotted through AIADA in 2022 following the initiative of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The institution has begun operations with 100 MBBS seats. He also thanked former Health Minister Banna Gupta for his support.

Health Secretary Ajay Singh described the inauguration as a significant moment for Jharkhand. He informed that this is the third medical college around the Jamshedpur region. Currently, the state has 10 medical colleges, and within the next four years, this number will increase to 20. New medical colleges are under construction in Chaibasa, Koderma, and Bokaro.

The program began with the national anthem, followed by traditional rituals and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Minister and Health Minister.
