48 Jharkhand Migrant Workers to Return from Tunisia, Pending Salaries Paid

Jharkhand News : Following the intervention of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, 48 migrant workers from Jharkhand stranded in Tunisia are set to return home. Their pending wages have also begun to be paid, the Chief Minister’s office confirmed on Monday.

According to a press release from the Jharkhand Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Larsen & Toubro Limited has already paid Rs 30 lakh to the workers and arranged air tickets for their return. The workers will fly back to India on 4th, 5th, and 6th November. The Chief Minister reportedly learned about the stranded workers through Twitter and immediately forwarded the case to the State Migrant Control Room for urgent action.

The press release added that the workers are residents of Hazaribagh (19), Giridih (14), and Bokaro (15) districts and were employed with PCL Prem Power Construction Limited. They had not received wages for the last three months, causing financial hardship. With coordination between the State Migrant Control Room, the Indian government, and the company, their safe return and salary payment have now been ensured.
