Gaza: Following a recent international conference at the United Nations on the Israel-Palestine conflict, Hamas issued a statement calling for an end to the war in Gaza, describing it as a “moral and humanitarian obligation.”
The group expressed support for any global efforts that align with the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, while making it clear that no political resolution is possible until Israel halts its attacks on Gaza.
Hamas accused Israel of carrying out genocide and implementing a deliberate starvation policy. However, it also hinted at willingness to release Israeli hostages in exchange for a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire agreement.
The conditions outlined include:
-
Complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza
-
Reopening of border crossings
-
Immediate launch of reconstruction efforts
In a notable shift, Hamas reiterated support for a two-state solution, stating that a political path must be established to end the occupation and realize the aspirations of the Palestinian people — including the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
