Chaiti Chhath festival begins with Nahay-Khay, to conclude on March 25 with offering to the rising Sun

More News : The grand festival of faith and Sun worship, Chaiti Chhath, began on Sunday with the ritual of Nahay-Khay amid devotion and spiritual fervor. This four-day rigorous fast is considered a symbol of purity, discipline, and harmony with nature. Devotees observe strict rituals while worshipping Lord Surya (Bhaskar).

The festival will conclude on March 25 with offerings (Arghya) to the rising Sun. As per tradition, the first day is Nahay-Khay, the second day is Kharna, the third day involves offering evening Arghya to the setting Sun, and the final day concludes with morning Arghya to the rising Sun.

According to priest Manoj Pandey, this year the festival coincides with an auspicious combination of celestial timings. On Nahay-Khay, Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped; on Kharna, devotees worship Goddess Skanda Mata. The evening Arghya is dedicated to Goddess Katyayani, while the morning Arghya holds special significance for Goddess Kalaratri. As Chaiti Chhath coincides with Chaitra Navratri, devotees are believed to receive blessings from both Chhathi Maiya and these divine forms.

📅 Chhath Festival Schedule

  • March 23: Kharna (till 8:42 PM)
  • March 24: Evening Arghya (sunset around 6:00 PM)
  • March 25: Morning Arghya (sunrise at 5:49 AM)

According to religious beliefs, observing this fast brings strength, good health, prosperity, and the blessing of children. It is especially considered highly beneficial for women seeking progeny.

In Ranchi and across Jharkhand, there is widespread enthusiasm among devotees. Preparations such as cleaning riverbanks (ghats), purchasing puja materials, and organizing rituals are in full swing, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
