Jaygovind Singh delivered an impressive performance in the senior category, clinching a bronze medal in the -60 kg weight class. Equally commendable was the performance of young Radhika Kumari, who brought home a silver medal in the cadet category under the -54 kg weight class. These early wins have not only opened Jharkhand’s medal tally but have also raised the state’s stature in national-level karate.

The WMSKF (WORLD MODERN SHOTOKAN KARATE FEDERATION) tournament has drawn participants from across India, making the competition fierce and highly competitive. Despite this, the disciplined and determined performance by Jharkhand athletes has stood out.

PRESIDENT OF THE World modern shotokan karate federation jharkhand, Naveen Prasad Sahu, congratulated the players for their success and encouraged them to continue their hard work to bring more glory to the state in future competitions. “Such achievements not only make the state proud but also inspire younger athletes to pursue excellence in martial arts,” he said.

Sahu also took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to team manager Prakash Ravidas, acknowledging his relentless support and commitment to mentoring the players. He urged Ravidas to continue sharing his vast experience with the athletes to help further develop their skills and performance.

This early success in the national championship is a promising sign for Jharkhand’s karate scene. With a blend of experienced guidance and youthful talent, the state appears well-positioned to achieve even greater accomplishments in the sport in the years to come.

The WMSKF All India Karate Championship continues on July 20, and hopes are high that Jharkhand athletes will add more medals to their tally.
