According to police sources, the joint team conducted a coordinated raid and arrested Tauseef from a guest house. Along with him, four other suspects— a woman, Sachin Singh, Yunus Khan, and Harish Singh—were also taken into custody. During the operation, one of the accused was reportedly injured.
The car that Tauseef was seen fleeing in after the murder has also been recovered from the spot. This vehicle played a crucial role in tracking him down.
Interestingly, Patna SSP Karthikeyan Sharma has not officially confirmed the arrests. However, intelligence sources have indicated that the accused were under surveillance for several weeks based on mobile tower locations and call records.
This arrest comes shortly after a major operation on Friday night in Kolkata’s upscale Newtown area. Six individuals involved in transporting the shooters were arrested from a multi-storey residential complex in Shapoorji Housing Society. Investigations revealed that these suspects had been living in the area for the past 6–7 months.
The Chandan Mishra murder case is linked to a notorious criminal gang led by Sheru Singh, who is currently lodged in Purulia Jail in West Bengal. Police believe that Sheru Singh orchestrated the murder through his associates. The gang is involved in multiple cases of extortion, contract killings, and organized crime across Bihar and Bengal.
This joint action marks a critical development in the high-profile case that had caused widespread concern in Patna. The arrest of Tauseef Raza is expected to reveal further leads about the gang’s network and their operations across state borders.
Authorities are continuing the investigation to track down more members of the Sheru Singh gang. Further arrests are likely in the coming days as police tighten the net around the remaining suspects.
