Jharkhand News : In a shocking revelation from Jharkhand, it has come to light that thousands of affluent individuals—including businessmen, hotel owners, warehouse operators, and mining contractors—have been illegally availing free ration meant for the poor under government schemes. These people, who live in luxurious houses and drive expensive cars, were holding red and yellow ration cards, which are intended for economically weaker families.

This fraud was exposed when the state government began linking ration cards with Aadhaar and implementing e-KYC for identity verification. During this process, it was discovered that many beneficiaries had annual turnovers ranging from ₹10 to ₹25 lakhs, making them completely ineligible for the benefits they were receiving.
These ineligible individuals had been collecting free rice, lentils, salt, and other essential food items every month—supplies that are reserved for low-income households. As a result, many truly deserving poor families were left out, deprived of their rightful share of support.
The administration has now swung into action. The Department of Food and Civil Supplies has started the process of canceling the ration cards of all ineligible beneficiaries. Officials have also warned that legal action could be taken against those who fraudulently exploited the public distribution system (PDS).
Thanks to new digital verification rules, the process of identifying and removing fake beneficiaries has become more efficient. With Aadhaar linkage and e-KYC verification, the government aims to make the distribution system more transparent and accountable, ensuring that only eligible citizens receive benefits.
This scam not only exposes a massive breach of public trust but also highlights loopholes in the current system. However, with authorities now actively addressing the issue, it is hoped that strict action will be taken against all those found guilty and the rights of the poor will be safeguarded going forward.
