Jharkhand News : In 2025, Jhumri Telaiya city has witnessed only a few small-scale development initiatives, with no major projects completed so far. However, foundations for several large projects have been laid, though their completion is expected to take time. One of the city’s most serious issues continues to be traffic congestion, prompting the municipal council to take limited measures to address the problem.
To reduce traffic jams, the municipal council introduced a one-way traffic system from Subhash Chowk to Maharana Pratap Chowk earlier this year. As part of this initiative, stand-post dividers were installed along the road in an attempt to regulate traffic flow. Additionally, temporary roadside shops and street vendors near the police station were relocated to an area close to the Public Works Department (PWD) office. While these steps provided some relief to commuters, they have not proven to be fully effective in resolving the congestion problem.
Meanwhile, the municipal council has initiated several infrastructure projects aimed at improving urban facilities. Near the old municipal office, a multi-purpose building worth several crores is under construction. At the same time, the District Council Board is developing a G+2 market complex near the police station at a cost of ₹3.42 crore. Construction work on 34 shops along CH School Road, with an investment of ₹1.30 crore, is also nearing completion.
In addition to this, beautification work at Maharana Pratap Chowk has been completed at a cost of approximately ₹5 lakh. The foundation stone for the Amrit Park project in Gumo has also been laid, and construction of Govardhan Park is currently underway.
Despite these ongoing projects, residents feel that traffic congestion remains a major challenge for the city. Citizens are hopeful that once these infrastructure developments are completed and more effective traffic management measures are implemented, Jhumri Telaiya will finally get relief from persistent traffic jams.
