Jharkhand News : In a significant step towards enhancing women’s safety in Jharkhand, Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta has announced that girls and women across the state can now report harassment or misconduct directly to him via email. The official email ID for filing such complaints is dgp@jhpolice.gov.in.

The DGP emphasized that no matter who the accused is—a government employee, teacher, panchayat worker, or even a police officer—strict action will be taken if found guilty of misbehavior or sexual harassment against women or minors.
He added that this move aims to ensure that victims are not afraid to report such incidents and have a direct and safe communication channel with the top police official in the state.
DGP Gupta also reiterated that Jharkhand Police is already operating emergency helplines like Dial 112 and Dial 100, which allow for immediate reporting of crimes or threats. All district Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been instructed to prioritize women’s safety in their respective areas.
However, DGP Gupta also warned against misuse of this channel. He said that while around 90% of complaints are genuine, there have been instances where individuals have falsely accused others out of personal grudges or rivalry.
Citing a recent example from Jamshedpur, the DGP explained that a dispute between two families led to a false allegation of molestation, made to settle scores rather than report an actual incident. He emphasized the need to verify every complaint properly before taking action, but assured that once a complaint is confirmed, strict and swift action would follow.
The newly introduced email-based complaint system is expected to strengthen trust between the public and police and will act as a vital tool to empower women in the state.
The DGP’s initiative reflects a broader effort by the state government to create a safer environment for women, especially amid growing concerns over rising incidents of harassment and abuse.
Women, girls, or anyone aware of such misconduct can now directly email the DGP and seek justice without fear or delay.
